Description:

Amoxiclav 2X tablets contain a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium, a powerful antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in adults and children.

• Dosage: Each tablet contains 875 mg amoxicillin trihydrate and 125 mg clavulanic acid potassium salt (7:1 ratio).
• Form: White or almost white, oval, biconvex tablets with beveled edges, film-coated, with a notch on one side and "875/125" embossed, and "AMC" embossed on the other side.
• Action: Amoxiclav 2X works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria responsible for infections. Clavulanate acid prevents the breakdown of amoxicillin by certain bacteria, ensuring its effectiveness.

Indications for Use:

Amoxiclav 2X is effective for treating various bacterial infections, including:

• Respiratory Infections: Acute bacterial sinusitis, acute otitis media, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia.
• Urinary Tract Infections: Cystitis, pyelonephritis.
• Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Inflammation of the subcutaneous tissue, wounds from animal bites, severe tooth abscess with widespread phlegmon.
• Bone and Joint Infections: Osteomyelitis.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults and Children ≥ 40 kg:
  • Standard Dose (All Indications): 1 tablet twice a day.
  • Higher Dose (Otitis Media, Sinusitis, Lower Respiratory Tract and Urinary Tract Infections): 1 tablet three times a day.
• Elderly Patients (>65 years): No dose adjustment required.
• Patients with Impaired Renal Function (Creatinine Clearance > 30 ml/min): No dose adjustment required.
• Patients with Impaired Liver Function: Use with caution and monitor liver function regularly.
• Children Weighing < 40 kg: Not intended for use in this age group.

Important Information:

• Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanate, or other penicillins. History of severe allergic reactions to beta-lactam drugs. History of jaundice or liver damage associated with amoxicillin/clavulanic acid.
